“And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the Lord, Because the Syrians have said, The Lord is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the Lord.” (1 Kings 20:28)
I AM the Almighty! There is nothing, there is no battle that is too hard for Me. I will help you fight your battles in the valley of despair, and I will help you fight them in the mountain top experiences of your life, when Satan attacks. Never choose where you will fight your battle with the enemy. Leave it all in My hands; I will win the battle, no matter when or where your enemy comes against you.
The Syrians besieged Samaria, the capital city of Israel. A battle ensued which resulted in the defeat of Syria. They were shocked, because their army was much more powerful than Israel’s. They reasoned among themselves that the only reason they were defeated was because the “gods” of Israel were mountain gods. So, in order to defeat them, they would have to go to open war against them in the low areas of the land.
All year long, they built up their army, and prepared for an all-out attack against Israel. For six days, the two armies looked at each other — Syria’s army, that “filled the country,” while Israel’s small army was like “two little flocks of kids.” I sent My prophet to encourage Ahab, the king of Israel, and told him that God would give him the victory, that He might prove by His power to be not only the God of the mountains, but also of the plains. On the seventh day, the battle was joined, and a miracle happened. The warring angels of Heaven came down under Prince Michael’s command and with their help, Israel slew one hundred thousand footmen in one day. And when the Syrian survivors fled to the city of Aphek for refuge, the angels of the Lord pushed down the city walls upon them, like they had done in Jericho, and twenty-seven thousand more were killed. So there was peace in Israel.
Syria had been the enemy of Israel since ancient times. Only during the time when Christ was on earth and Syria was ruled by Rome, was Syria at peace with Israel. During that time many Syrians came to hear Him preach, and many were healed (Matthew 4:24). The greatest weapon of warfare is love.
The only way to permanently defeat your enemy is to convert him into a friend by extending a hand of love (Matthew 5:44). Your greatest weapon of warfare is love. Use it!
