April 20: Blessed Are They Who Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness

Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:6

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)

There is only one thing in this world which you should desire, or for which you should seek, and that is to be righteous in My sight and to know Me more intimately.

If only My children would seek Me early in life and first every morning! How different their lives would be!

They are forever getting swept up in a whirlwind of activities and works FOR Me; and sometimes they are so busy working FOR Me that they forget to work WITH Me; as a result they leave Me far behind and I have to sadly watch them as they, in their zeal for Me, run from works to works, while I stand alone waiting for their fellowship.

So many are like the Church of Ephesus of whom I had to say: “I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou has tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and has found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” (Revelation 2:2-4)

It grieves me deeply to see you so busy in your works for Me that you cannot take time to fellowship with Me. Many of MY servants need to take a Sabbatical year of rest. They will be surprised to see that the world will not fall apart when they rest in My presence. My Holy Spirit can put the peace of God over their flocks and their affairs. It is good to slow down. Why don’t you try it?

When you hunger and thirst after righteousness you will be drawn into an intimate relationship with Me which only those who are hungry for God ever experience. And the mystery of it is the better you know Me, the more hungry you are for righteousness — the more you will desire to know Me even more intimately.

The closer you are to Me, the more you will become like Me, until My image is stamped on your character and sometimes on your very likeness, and people will marvel and “take knowledge of you that you have been with Jesus (Acts 4:13), for your speech will give you away.” (Matthew 26:73)

Few of My children are filled with the Holy Spirit, and even fewer stay filled, because they do not hunger and thirst after righteousness and holiness.

It is impossible for you, in your own strength, to be holy and  righteous. It is only through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit that you can be holy.

So seek for My Holy Spirit, that you might be complete in Me and I might be your all in all (Ephesians 1:23; I Corinthians 15:28).

It is a beautiful experience and a great honour for you, as a member of the Body of Christ on earth and a part of the created works of God, to be filled with the Holy Spirit, Who played such a prominent role in the creation of the world and all that is in it.

He is the revealer of the Holy Father, and when you have Him in you and are filled with Him, you have a tremendous intimacy with the Father which few others will experience — not because they cannot, but because they do not hunger after righteousness. For only those who hunger after God shall be filled with Holy Spirit.
