“Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass” (Matthew 21:5).
MEEKNESS: “It is that attitude of spirit in which we accept God’s dealings with us as good, and do not dispute or resist… It is a virtue born in strength of character. It is an inwrought grace of the soul and the expressions of it are first, and chiefly directed toward God.” *
Many people confuse meekness with weakness. They think that when you are meek you are filled with fear. But the two are in no way related.
Moses was the meekest man on earth (Numbers 12:3) yet, he was also the most courageous. He chased away the wicked shepherds who gave Zipporah a hard time when she wanted to water her father’s sheep at the well (Exodus 2:16-22).
Many times he dared to stand before Pharaoh and demand that he release My people from slavery. This took great courage, because each time he did it, his life was in danger. At any moment Pharaoh could have ordered his soldiers to kill him!
A meek person is one who can hear My voice when I talk to his soul, and is willing to obey Me at all costs!
The meek are My most trusty, faithful and loyal followers. That is why I can rely on them, and commission them to greatness in My Kingdom. I can do signs and wonders through them, because I can trust them with My power. Deuteronomy 34:10-12 says, “And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, in all the signs and the wonders, which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land, And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses showed in the sight of all Israel.”
I have called you to meekness because I want you to be like Me, for I am meek and lowly (Matthew 11:29). Meekness is one of the fruits of the Spirit-filled life (Galatians 5:23). It is an ornament which few possess (2 Peter 3:4).
In My first Sermon on the Mount I taught “The meek shall inherit the earth.” I was quoting from the Tanach** (Psalm 37:11).
Meekness qualifies you for greatness and leadership. These are the ones who will rule the world during the Millennium.
