Scripture Reading: Proverbs 24:30-34
“I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; And, l0, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.” (Proverbs 24:30-34)
Negligence, indifference, and laziness are the reasons that many beautiful fields and vineyards lie dormant and overgrown with weeds and thistles.
Your life is like a vineyard. The way you love it and care for it is very important. Do not allow your life nor the lives of your children to grow wild. Stir up your soul to arise a little earlier to pray and to sow the seed of My Word into your life and the lives of your children.
Start the morning by tending your precious fields and vineyards, even by having family devotions. Never start your day without a word from Me and a word to Me. Read the Bible and pray together with your families and those with whom you dwell. Never send your children out of the house without first reading the Bible and then praying with them.
This is important. Those extra moments of sleep are not worth it when you realize that you are allowing your most precious fields to be overgrown with weeds and thistles — even the fields and vineyards of the lives of your children. The wall of protection, which My Word builds up around your life and the lives of your family, is broken down, and wild beasts come in to kill and devour when you do not take time to pray with your children and your spouse. It need not take long hours every morning… only a few verses from My Holy Word, well explained to those who are young, and a loving holding of the hands in prayer will save your child that day from being overgrown with thorns and thistles.
Begin today and continue every day this year to take time to pray and read My Word, and your garden will prosper and give blessings and beauty to many.
