Back on Watch

“Then behold at eventide, trouble!  And before the morning he is no more, this is the portion of those who plunder us.  And the lot of these who rob us” (Is. 17:14).

“But you Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend.  You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called from its farthest regions, And said to you, You are my servant.  I have chosen you and have not cast you away.  Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you.  I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Is. 41: 8-10).

Dear Intercessors for Israel:

Greetings from Jerusalem!  Oh, how we have wanted to say those words, and it has come to pass!  Marylois and I are once again “back in the Land” and “on watch” at the House of Peace after seven months away.  Friends said to us upon our arrival that it was as if the Lord was calling up His reserves and positioning them for battle.  Our presence here is to join hands and strengthen the prayer warriors and watchmen on the walls during these troublesome times for Israel.  Here we are, “Hineini, Lord,” use us!

That’s a heart’s cry all believers need to say, meaning: “Lord, we have a readiness to receive and respond to whatever experience is about to unfold.” It is an offer of complete availability and total readiness to serve.

Troublesome Times for Israel

These are dark times for Israel.  Prime Minister Netanyahu said some months ago that Israel was fighting its second war of independence.  This week the Prime Minister announced that Israel was at war on seven fronts.  He said:  “First of all, against Hamas in Gaza, against Hezbollah in Lebanon, against the Houthis in Yemen, against the Iranian militias in Iraq and Syria, against Iran, and against Palestinian terrorists in Judea and Samaria.”  In addition, Israel is fighting a diplomatic battle against the International Criminal Court which is seeking arrest warrants against Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant.  Then there is also a massive wave of international pressure from many nations against Israel, to cave in to their wishes and immediately stop this warfare, before any hostages are released and Hamas is defeated.

These are times of crisis for the Jewish state.  The port of Eilat is closed due to the blockade from the Iranian Houthis who are sinking ships that dare make a passage through the Red Sea.  The port of Haifa is under threat of closure from Hezbollah, with its drones able to penetrate Israel’s defenses.  The port of Ashkelon is now being used to transfer humanitarian supplies to the “refugees” in Gaza.

Prices have increased here.  Just today as I was shopping, I saw a jar of mayonnaise for sale at our local “Super Deal.”  It was 42 NIS or over $11.00!  Other commodities are also soaring.  Toilet paper for 32 rolls was 44 NIS or almost $12!  Even so, my God shall supply Israel’s every need.

The nation of Columbia has stopped coal shipments to Israel, which is used beside natural gas to power this nation’s electrical plants.  Other nations are joining in this global movement to impose sanctions on Israel.

War with Hezbollah

This week, a very real threat of war exists against the Iranian proxy armies in Lebanon: Hezbollah (Army of allah).  This terror group has already fired some 4,000 rockets, missiles, mortars and explosive drones into Northern Israel.  Massive forest fires have already broken out on Israel’s mountains, military bases have been targeted, houses and crops destroyed.  The Northern communities of Metulla and Kiryat Shmona have been evacuated and some 60,000 Israelis displaced.  Israel has repeatedly warned Lebanon that it will invade if Hezbollah’s attacks do not cease.  Iran, though, has actively supported this warfare and is regularly sending in shipments of rockets, missiles, and thousands of volunteer jihadists to fight Israel.

If a conflict breaks out, Israelis have been warned to expect power outages, internet failures, water stoppages, and destruction and casualties throughout the nation.  The price of freedom is steep, but Israel must root out and destroy these terrorists if it is to survive.

Current estimates show that Hezbollah can target the entire territory of the State of Israel with accurate shooting capability. The area that will mainly targeted is the entire northern area up to Haifa. In this area, the bulk of the fire will be from rockets of various types that are considered short-range.

Hezbollah has a “stockpile” of some 150,000 mortars, 65,000 rockets with a range of up to 80 km, 5,000 rockets and missiles with a range of 80-200 km, 5,000 missiles with a range of 200 km or more, 2,500 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and hundreds of advanced missiles, such as anti-aircraft missiles or cruise missiles. Estimates indicate that should war break out, Hezbollah will send several thousand drones and missiles to Israel every day.  ( Canada is now calling for its estimated 45,000 citizens to leave Lebanon “while they can” (

The threat of a regional war with Iran is also very credible. Just last April, Iran launched over 300 drones and missiles at Israel, although almost all were intercepted or fell harmlessly into the desert.  The United States is trying to diplomatically “broker” a ceasefire, but a greater war may break out at any minute.  Nevertheless, Marylois and I are glad we are here for such a time as this.  We are honored to be able to stand with Israel and pray and encourage her citizens.  This Wednesday we will gather with other prayer warriors at the House to pray and intercede for this nation, for victory and for the safety of its citizens.

There is also a lot of misinformation being transmitted, as is to be expected any time nations are fighting one another.  This too, is warfare, with the object either to confuse your opponent or to create fear and uncertainty among those hearing it.  In times like this, it is so important to know the guidance of the Lord and know the scriptures for these end-time events.

Please pray for our wellbeing and safety.  Please pray for the nation of Israel at this time.  Pray that the LORD would show Himself mighty against the enemies of Israel.

Pray for the release or rescue of the remaining 116 hostages.  Israel’s war with Hamas is now entering its ninth month in one week.

Pray Isaiah 17:14 over Hezbollah, over Hamas, over Iran and the rest of Israel’s enemies:  “Then behold at eventide, trouble!  And before the morning he is no more, this is the portion of those who plunder us.  And the lot of these who rob us.” (Is. 17:14).

Pray for the safety of the I.D.F.  Pray against hidden explosives, traps, and snipers. Pray for victory over Hamas and Hezbollah.

Victory for Israel with God’s help!
