December 23: The God of Jacob Is Your Help

Scripture Reading—Psalm 146:1-10

“Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul. While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help… Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God.” (Psalm 146:1-3, 5)

Why do great disappointments come? Because people put their trust in people. You speak much against humanism. But even My people have too much humanism in their way of thinking. They still think that there is some good thing in man. There isn’t.

The only good thing in any man or woman is Me. And when I am slowly but surely smothered by self in a life, there becomes less of Me and more of self. That self-life is the area where demonic spirits have a fertile breeding ground. No evil spirit can be conceived or allowed to grow in the Holy Ghost controlled and possessed area of a life. But if the original root of self is not dealt with, it will gow and grow, and in growing it will squeeze out the Holy Spirit’s area of control and influence in a life.

The big thing in a life is not what the natural traits are but how much of the Holy Spirit is in control of that life. To let My Spirit have great control and influence, let your days and nights be filled with praises unto Me. Sing, worship, praise. Keep your eyes on Me. Let Me be the object of your love and affection. Let Me always be your one and only source of help. Then you will never be disappointed. Remember, “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help…” (verse 5). All that I did for Jacob, I will do for you.

I covered his mistakes with forgiveness. I protected and accompanied him in his journeys. I provided for him in a strange land. I gave him the woman he loved in spite of her father’s treacherous ways. I abundantly blessed him and made him rich. I gave him many children. I helped him escape from Laban. I gave him protection from his enemies—Laban, Esau, and the heathen about him. I spoke to him and renewed My Covenant. I brought Him down to Egypt and he saw his lost, beloved son Joseph. I brought him before kings. I gave him a long life. I let him be buried with his people. And I have fulfilled all My promises to him since that time by restoring to his children the land of Israel—his land.

As I was with Jacob, I will be with you. Jacob lives with Me today. He is happy. You should rejoice and be happy, too, for “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God” (verse 5).

When I am your God, you have a reason to rejoice and praise. So lift up your eyes to Me. See Me and you will praise Me, and you will worship Me, and you will be filled with Me.

The more you praise Me, the less of self there is in you. I will fill every area of your life with My glory and goodness, and there will be no breeding ground for demon spirits in your life. My joy, My peace, My love, My happiness, My very Self will fill every area of your life and your being.
