December 5: Make Self-Examination

Scripture Reading: II Corinthians 13:1-14

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (II Corinthians 13:5)

“Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.” (vs. 11)

It is good to stop and take inventory of yourself and make self-examination. You must be absolutely honest with yourself. Never deceive yourself. Be sure that all you do is in obedience to the laws of the true faith which you have accepted.

I am living within you. I want to live My life through you, therefore you must live by the law of “Him who dwelleth within and whose temple you are.” Never live contrary to the laws of My life.

As Paul closes his glorious letter to the church, he gives the admonition which I now give to you.

Be perfect (with Me inside of you this is possible).

Be of good comfort (with the Holy Spirit filling you this is possible).

Be of one mind (if you put on the mind of Christ, you will have one mind).

Live in peace. As much as you are able, strive to live at peace with your fellowman. With the God of peace standing, ready to bruise Satan under your feet shortly, this is possible. (Romans 16:20)

And the God of love and peace shall be with you.
