Scripture Reading: Proverbs 30: 16b
“There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough: The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.” (Proverbs 30:16)
“…and the fire that saith not, It is enough.” (Proverbs 30:16b)
Fire is a terrible and ferocious devourer. Its flames are like tongues of dragons licking up everything in its path. Anyone near enough to feel its heat better get out of the way! It is dangerous. Only brave men dare to fight it.
Its flames are merciless. It fears no one, small or great, rich or free, young or old.
The more you feed it, the more it demands. It is never satisfied. Even if you heaped a winter’s supply of logs on it, it will devour it in no time at all, and search for more.
It will never, ever say, “I have enough!”
The same is true of the corrupt desires of sinners. They are insatiable. Nothing can satisfy them.
Nor can you satisfy the flames of passion and lust that burn in your belly. They will destroy you, along with your unsuspecting victims. You, by yourself, cannot conquer that tormenting flame.
But God can! He can fight fire with Fire. The Fire of the Holy Ghost can burn in your soul in such a way that it will swallow up and consume that uncontrollable flame by His eternal flame of purity and divine love.
