Awake, Awake, put on strength O arm of the LORD! Awake as in the ancient days, In the generations of old. Are you not the arm that cut Rahab (Egypt) apart, and the serpent?
(Then) the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; sorrow and sighing shall flee away. I even I am He who comforts you (Is. 51:9-11b)
Dear Friends of Israel:
Happy New Year 2024! Marylois and I have just returned from the southeastern U.S. It is my hope and prayer that you were able be together with your loved ones and celebrate the birth of the Christ Child and Savior of the World over the holidays.
We first attended a graduation ceremony held on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. Here we saw our daughter, Joy, graduate summa cum laude with a Master’s in Nursing Education. She is already teaching college in Ashville. A few days later we were in Northern Virginia where we spent an early Christmas with our son Bryan, along with his three older children. Then it was off to Ashville to meet up with our daughters, Alysa and Joy, son-in-law, Peter, and the grandchildren, Zoe and Noah.
God loves family and it was so good to reconnect with one another and be together during these times.
The war against Israel’s enemies is nearing three months now. Hamas first attacked Israel, October 7th, murdering and raping some 1200 adults, children, senior citizens and IDF troops, with another 3,500 wounded. Numerous military bases and kibbutzim were over-run and over 250 captives taken back into the Gaza Strip. Israel then declared war against these evil terrorists and invaded the Gaza Strip, a 30-mile enclave with some two million people who largely support Hamas. Fighting has been bitter and costly, with the terrorists using underground tunnels, civilians, and children as lookouts. Israel has lost some 173 military personnel, with many drawn from its reserves. The war though has unified the nation, and has seen religious (Ultra Orthodox) joining the army as well as Bedouin and Druze.
The United States in turn has been micro-managing this war, providing weapons and ammunition to Israel yet all the while demanding “safe zones” for Gazans and humanitarian aid, which Hamas then steals for its needs. Both Egypt and Jordan have refused to take any Gazan refugees as well as every other Arab country, knowing that these people have in the past tried to overthrow both nations.
Last month, President Biden demanded that Israel dial down this war by the end of 2023. Israel announced on December 31st that it would withdraw five IDF brigades from Gaza (an army brigade is around 5,000 men) and “dial down” the air war. Israel’s latest request for U.S., Apache helicopters, was denied by the Biden Administration. New Year’s Eve, Hamas shot volleys of rockets towards Tel-Aviv at midnight proving that it is still a force to be reckoned with.
Israel currently finds itself fighting its enemies on six fronts (Yemen, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Hamas, and its supporters in the P.A. territories in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria). To survive as a Jewish nation, Israel must defeat these Islamic terrorists who call the Jews “colonialists” and desire to make Palestine another Islamic nation from the Jordan River to the Sea. The Houthis in Yemen have effectively blocked off the Red Sea which leads to the Suez Canal. The U.S. has organized an international force of ships to shoot down their cruise missiles and prevent hijacking of ships, but the world’s shipping companies are choosing to sail around Africa so as not to risk destruction and capture. This blockage is affecting the world’s oil trade as well as grain and container shipments. Iran is arming these rebels, and until a greater military land force intervenes, these attacks will continue.
I began this prayer letter with a quote from Isaiah (Is. 51:9-11). My prayer is that this is the hour for the LORD God to show Himself mighty over Islam. Let the powers of evil bow their knees and the Muslims see Jesus and abandon their desire for martyrdom. The second prayer I am asking for you to join me this New Year is for the remaining 123 Israel, American, Bedouin, other foreign national hostages and the captured IDF troops to be released and come back to Zion with singing (Is. 51:11). Keep up this prayer bombardment to Heaven! Great miracles can happen! Our weapons in the Spirit are mighty to the casting down of strongholds!
House of Peace
Marylois and I will be returning by early March to the House of Peace for another season. Thank you for standing with us and your many kindnesses to us over the years. We are a watch-tower of prayer in the midst of Zion. Donate to the House of Peace HERE.
My good friend and fellow minister, Pete Snyder, has invited Don James and I to accompany him to the Philippines in early February. We will be in the Visayas which is a large island an hour’s flight time south of Manila. We will be near the city of Bacolod for some two weeks. I will be teaching on Israel and the End Times, and other subjects, then we will be ministering to various high school students as well as joining up with a street ministry, distributing food and lifting up Jesus to all we meet. The Filipinos love Israel and the Jewish people. Many are employed there as caregivers. This nation is also “white unto harvest” for the Gospel.
We ask that you hold us up in prayer during this trip February 7-21st and that we can bring to the Lord a great harvest of souls. If you would like to support us in this Gospel outreach, we need funds for buying food for the homeless, as well as providing for the pastors who are attending our week-long convention in the town of Isu. Many sleep on the church benches in the evening.
If the LORD puts the Philippines on your heart, please send your offerings either to Paypal.com and put in Crownlifeinc@yahoo.com. Funds for this mission outreach can also be mailed to Crown of Life Ministries (Gene Little), P.O. Box 306, Jasper, AR 72641.
Shalom Blessings/Am Yisrael Chai
