“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah” (Ps. 9:17, 19)
“All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. For the kingdom is the LORD’s and he is the governor among the nations (Ps. 22:27-28)
Dear Intercessors for Israel:
President Trump released his “Deal of the Century” last week. This peace plan is another attempt at resolving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Entitled: “Peace to prosperity, A vison to Improve the lives of the Palestinian and Israel people”, Trump’s peace plan keeps Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, and allows for land swaps and annexations (Land for Peace). Israel’s communities in Judea and Samaria would be permitted to remain. The Jordan Valley border along side the nation of Jordan would remain under Israeli control. In addition, the Trump “Deal” promises an economic incentive of $50 billion dollars would be given to the P.A.
Under this new peace “Deal” the P.A. would be given 70% of Judea and Samaria (West Bank) lands, plus Gaza and Israel’s land along the Egyptian border. Additional Arab cities within Israel (The Wadi Ari Triangle (Land bordering Israel Highway 65, between Afula and Pardes Hanna, consisting of numerous Israeli Arab villages including the city of Umm al Fahn) would be ceded over to the P.A. (The residents of these Arab villages have announced that they do not want to be a part of the Palestinian Authority, but they also don’t want to a part of Israel either.)
P.A. rejects Trump’s Plan
The Palestine Authority’s 84 year old President Abbas was quick to renounce President Trump’s “Deal”, threatening at an Arab League meeting to “break all ties with Israel and the U.S.” President Mahmoud Abbas also implied this Thursday that terrorist attacks in the West Bank and Jerusalem would occur as a result of the recently unveiled U.S. peace plan. Abbas declared that President Donald Trump’s proposal “will be foiled whatever the sacrifices might be.”
This past Wednesday morning, an Arab driver from the Mount of Olives village of A’Tur deliberately drove his car into a group of Israeli soldiers, injuring twelve. This terrorist was captured some hours later. IDF forces in the West Bank have responded to isolated clashes and a policeman was attacked at the entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City Lion’s Gate. The terrorist was “neutralized” before any more people were injured.
Following these incidents, Abbas stated: “We warned of this more than on multiple occasions and made clear that any initiative that won’t realize the rights of the Palestinian people and won’t strive for a just and comprehensive peace, will eventually lead to the escalation we can see today.” He said the “Deal of the Century” created “an atmosphere of escalation and tension with its attempt to assert fake facts on the ground.” “The Palestinians and their leadership will contend with all the schemes and will foil them as we foiled all the previous ones.” In the meantime, Hamas praised the surge of violence earlier in the day, saying in a statement that “the revolution raging in the West Bank cities and in Jerusalem is the implementation of the Palestinian people’s decision to expel the occupation from the West Bank and free it of settlers.”
So far, there has been no “uprising” within the current Palestinian community. There is an increase in what the IDF calls “lone wolf” attacks, or independent terror attacks carried out by individuals.
Please pray that God would “frustrate the plans of the wicked” against Israeli citizens. Pray protection for the people of Israel.
The P.A.’s Terms for Peace
The Palestinian Authority’s peace terms with Israel have not changed since its foundation. The backbone of the P.A. is the Palestinian Liberation Organization, which was founded in 1964. Its declared purpose is the “liberation of Palestine” through armed struggle, with much of its violence aimed at Israeli civilians. The current head of the PLO is the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas. The P.L.O.’s original charter, called for the destruction of Israel and its replacement with a “secular, democratic state.” This charter has never been revoked.
The Palestinian Authority’s terms for accepting peace with Israel, include the right of return of its “refugees” into Israel, and their descendants. Official figures widely differ as to how many refugees there are, with some statistics ranging from 1.5 million to seven million. P.A. President Abbas recently claimed there was 13 million Palestinians, who had the right to would be forced to live on only 11% of the land if Trump’s deal goes through. The P.A. is also adamant that any peace deal must include all lands that were within the Pre-1967 borders (formally occupied by Jordan). Abbas is speaking to the U.N. Security Counsel next week. He will be demanding a resolution condemning President Trump’s Peace deal.
The U.S. will certainly veto such a resolution. The Security Council then would allow the Palestinians to convene an emergency special session of the General Assembly to discuss the same issue and vote on a similar resolution. General Assembly resolutions are nonbinding, but carry political weight. (www.jpost.com)
Israel is also demanding that the Palestinian Authority when/if ever, it is granted statehood, become a de-militarized nation. The Palestinian Authority has rejected this requirement. Former U.S. agreements, while not allowing the P.A. to have an army permitted and trained a 65,000 strong police force to “keep order.”
Pray: “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. “(Ps. 9: 17,19)
Please pray for a change of leadership within the P.A. President Abbas currently is in the 12th year of his initial four-year term. Most if not all of the P.A. ‘s leadership core are carry-overs from Yasser Arafat’s days.
Deal of the Century “Squeeze’s Israel.”
Dr. Aaron Lerner, writing for Israel’s Independent Media Review Analysis (http://www.imra.org.il ) urges Israelis to take a critical look at the terms of Trump’s “Deal of the Century. He states that its immediacy is designed to “squeeze Israel.”
Dr. Lerner writes:
“Kushner’s insistence that only one round of annexation can take place, and that after Israel signs off on a map dictated by America in a “joint map committee”, turns annexation from a move to advance Israeli interests to a device to force Israel to choose between running down the clock on the window of opportunity and signing a map explicitly drawn with the purpose of “halting settlement expansion.”
Following Kushner’s stated goal, the American “all or nothing” map can be expected to include:
#1. The borders of Israeli communities set in accordance with the current footprint of completed buildings as observed in aerial photographs rather than in accordance with municipal lines.
#2. Massive increase in the footprint of Jericho and other Palestinian communities beyond their current areas to occupy empty available land.
#3. Forfeiture of E1 and similar locations for Palestinian “contiguity.” (www.imra.org.il 2/6/2020)
The E-1 corridor consists of land, directly across from Israel’s largest city in Judea and Samaria: Ma’aleh Adumim. This land was to be a part of this community, but the P.A. claims it is essential for a corridor of expansion as a nation. Israel has built a police station on top of the E-1 hill, but has not allowed housing construction.
Clarifying the Deal
In closing, we want to share a brief portion from Avner Boskey’s newsletter, “Clarifying the Deal”. (2/4/2020)
It’s for your own good”
The phrase “it’s for your own good” usually means that you are being forced to do something which is neither enjoyable o desired. The authors of the ‘Deal of the Century’ lays out many solutions which they believe are “for your own good” – for the good of the Israelis and for the good of the Palestinians. But the devil is in the details, as Friedrich Nietzsche would say (“Der Teufel steckt im Detail”). A contract may look fine at first glance, but a thorough reading can unveil problems and hidden agendas. Small issues can ultimately cause a deal to self-destruct.
“As the nation’s stumble and attempt to lift the heavy stone of Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:3), most might not be aware that they are touching the apple of God’s eye (Zechariah 2:8). They may be motivated by wanting to solve an intractable problem, by wanting to gain fame for achieving the unattainable, by insuring a smooth supply of oil in a dangerous part of the world, etc. Whatever the case, God’s plumb line for the world is the Word of God, and His foreign policy for the nations is linked to their treatment of Israel, their heart-attitudes to the Jewish people. Here are some thoughts about how God will even use blind world leaders to establish His plans and to close ‘His Deal’:
Please Pray these scriptures regarding Israel’s acceptance of President Trump’s “Deal of the Century”
The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation (Psalm 33:11)
Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the counsel of the LORD will stand (Proverbs 19:21)
There is no wisdom and no understanding and no counsel against the LORD (Proverbs 21:30)
Because they had rebelled against the words of God and spurned the counsel of the Most High (Psalm 107:11)
The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against the LORD and against His Anointed (Psalm 2:2)
The LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples (Psalm 33:10)
Pray for revelation to come to President Trump and PM Bibi Netanyahu about God’s perspective on dividing Jerusalem and the Land.
Pray for an infusion of divine clarity for believers on these issues”
Pray for all Israeli leaders not enter into agreements that are binding political traps to hinder Israel’s destiny.
Pray “The people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land forever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands that I may be glorified” A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time” (Is. 60:21-22)
Wishing you all a Shabbat Shalom
