January 4: Never Join Hands with the Wicked

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 1:10-16

“My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.” (Proverbs 1:10-16)

Evil desires company. Just as Lucifer does not want to suffer eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire alone, the evil man or woman wants to drag other souls into Hell with him or her.

The evil person will make vain promises of wealth — “We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil.”

He promises comradeship and friendship, “Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse.”

This is the promise Communism and religious cults make — but it never works out. There will always be a “Judas” in the midst who will steal what is in the purse.

Ill-gotten gains bring a curse. Those who steal to attain what is not rightly theirs will bring a curse upon all that they possess.

The tragedy is that man is never content with what he has acquired. He always wants more. First he lies and cheats to get it, then he even goes so far as to murder in order to obtain more.

Many murderers began their life of destruction with petty thievery.

Woe to those who agree together to murder the innocent!

Do not join forces with those who say, “Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause; Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit. ”

Never march on the side of those who are ready to shed the blood of the innocent and the unborn. Instead resist their evil ways.

For great will be their punishment on the Judgment Day when the books are opened and they will be judged for slaughtering the innocent in order to fill their houses with precious substance. All that is acquired through the shedding of innocent blood is cursed.
