June 19: My Ways Are Often Hard to Understand

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9).

It is impossible for you to understand My leadings in your life because you do not see into the future like I do. I know what is getting ready to happen; you don’t. That is why you misunderstand My leadings. You think Me harsh, when I am saving you from what could be a tragedy.

It is important that you obey Me at all times, even though you cannot understand why I am calling you to do something that seems to be unkind, or that makes no sense.

I have asked people to do things that even a crazy person would not ask them to do. And because they obeyed Me, even though they could not understand rhyme or reason, they were able to accomplish great things for Me.

One such person was Noah! It had never rained upon the earth. The dew that fell from heaven kept the earth moist. So he didn’t know what rain was when I told him, “Yet, seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights” (Genesis 7:4). The closest body of water was many miles away from where he lived. Yet when I commanded him to build a great ark to save his family and members of the animal kingdom, he obeyed me, and immediately went to work — a job that took over one hundred years.

He preached all the time that he was building it (Genesis 6:3), warning the sinners of the flood that was coming. They thought he was an old, senile man who didn’t know what he was talking about. And he suffered much mockery. But he obeyed Me, and thereby he saved his family. You all are their descendants.

In the same way, I told Lot to warn his children that I was going to destroy Sodom on the morrow, but they took no heed, they turned over in bed and went back to sleep because he “seemed as one that mocked” (Genesis 19:14).

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

You will be rewarded for doing the “foolish thing.” So don’t be ashamed to be a fool for My sake.

If I tell you to do something, even though it does not make sense to you, or to your family, obey Me, and you will one day be seated among the wise.
