Scripture Reading: Luke 6:45
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” (Luke 6:45)
“The good person produces good things from the store of good in his heart, while the evil person produces evil things from the store of evil in his heart. For his mouth speaks what overflows from his heart.” (Luke 6:45)
Good people possess good treasures in good hearts.
Evil people possess evil things in evil hearts.
It is very easy to know what is in the heart of a person by the words which he speaks.
If you listen, even for a few minutes, you can discern if the words you are hearing come from a precious treasure in the heart of a good person, of if they are deadly, evil things that are stored up in the heart of an evil person.
No one can make himself “good. ” He doesn’t have the power to change himself. But he can come to Me, no matter how evil he is, and I can change him, for I have the power to take out his heart of stone and give him a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). A heart of stone has no feelings. It can kill, steal, commit adultery, lie and live a life of perversion, without any feelings of guilt or remorse.
But the heart of flesh is tender. It feels pain, and regrets causing others pain.
The Holy Spirit cannot live in stone. So He seeks to make His abode in the heart of man, even the heart of the man who has a heart of flesh, i.e. a kind and tender heart.
My Word said that when I give you a heart of flesh I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep my statutes and do them (Ezekiel 36:27).
Don’t think that you have to wait until you have your glorified body before you possess a good heart that is filled with good treasures. You can have it even now; for it is in the heart of “flesh” that the Holy Spirit dwells. After you die and receive your glorified body, your body will be changed like unto My glorious one.
The good treasures I talked about are called “fruit” by My servant Paul. They are:
Meditate on them.
Strive for them.
And let the Holy Spirit work them out in your heart.
And you will be a good person with a good heart who has good treasures.
