March 3: From the Rising of the Sun to the Going Down of the Same

“From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, the LORD’s name is to be praised.” Psalm 113:3

Daybreak and sunset are magnificent hours in Jerusalem. The morning sun bursts over the hills and floods the city with light. The limestone walls of Jerusalem catch this brightness and turn a golden color. At sunset the reverse is true, except, the walls seem to glow a little longer in the fading light. Both moments of the day heralded the time when the sacrifice was offered in the Temple. The Levites would sound their trumpets and the offering would be burnt on the altar. The priestly chorus would resound with praises to the Holy One of Israel, singing “Hallellu.” The people would respond with “Hallelu Jah.” The city would echo with praises to the God most High.

David keys into the heartbeat of God’s throne room with this affirmation. By praising the Creator every hour, every minute, and every second of the day; every cell in your body will become full of His Presence. There will be no room for darkness or evil. Your body, mind and emotions will be filled with His glory.

John the Apostle experienced the majesty of praising God. He heard the voices of many angels round about the throne, and the creatures and the elders, tens of thousands and thousands, all worshipping the Lamb upon the Throne (Rev. 5:11-14). Night and day, they cry out “blessing and honor, and glory and power be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever.” This is just a fleeting hint of what we the redeemed will be doing throughout eternity The Psalmist heart’s cry is: “Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and forevermore.” It is a decree to God. The LORD is looking for praisers who choose to fill their day with hallels to Him. It is a good thing to give praises to God, from the beginning of our day until its end. Start praising Him now, Let Him who rules the heavens fill you with His glory.

A Word of the Lord
Fill your day with praises to me. Other men and women curse and swear and bring darkness to the earth. Be not like them. For I have created you to sing my praises throughout the earth. Be a praise vessel for me. Praise my name at all times. Call me. Praise me with a true heart. Men laud themselves and each other. But few declare my praises.

Praise me for whom I am. I am the Great Jehovah, the El Shaddai of your life, the El Roi, and the El Gibor. Praise me for what I am about to do in your life. Praise me for where I have placed you. Praise me as David did in cymbals and harp. Praise me in the dance and in the song. Praise me in your prayers. When you wake up, praise me, and when you lie down. You will be transformed in doing so. Your very nature will change. Sing out and I will inhabit your praises.

Jerusalem will become a city of praise. I will see to it. Begin today by praising my name. I will receive your offering and bless you in all that you do. I love you. My New Jerusalem will always ring out with my praises. Its citizens will joyfully worship me and praise me for my mighty acts.

Devotional Prayer
Lord, let not a day pass that we forget to praise you. From the moment we rise until we sleep, may we decree praises to you. Allow our hearts to cry out in joy to You.
