May 18: Your Attitude Will Affect Your Gift

Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:23-24

“Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.” (Matthew 5:23—24)

When your soul and spirit are contaminated with anger and unforgiveness your ministry will be effected. That is why I ask you to first try to make peace with the one who has something against you. Of course, I know that there are those with whom one cannot possibly be reconciled. If you have tried, and that one who has ought against you, or who is under the influence of a third person, cannot hear what you have to say, there is therefore nothing more you can do but commit that one to Me and come back to the altar and give Me your gift.

It is not possible for you to be at peace with the whole world. Nor is it necessary that the whole world should love you before you serve Me.

The important thing is, not that your brother loves you, but that you love your brother. If your heart is filled with anger, hatred, jealousy, and revenge, it will taint and pollute your gifts and talents.

Music from the heart that is full of sin is perverted music.

Literature from the heart that is filled with lust is destructive.

Art painted with the brush of an angry person will bring unrest to the soul.

Sermons preached from the angry and unforgiving preacher will do more to wound and destroy than to heal and edify.

So get everything as right as possible in your life, and then come back to the altar and serve Me the best that you can, and I will bless your gifts and use them for My glory.
