“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the Lord.” (Leviticus 23:10-12)
I have always had a firstfruits company. I commanded My people that when they reaped their harvest they must always bring the first ripe into the sanctuary as an offering to Me: “Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me” (Exodus 22:29). There could be no delay.
The first ripe of the fruit is always the most costly because it is the first of its kind on the market, and it is very rare. There might be only a handful of peaches, or plums or cherries that are the first to ripen on the tree, but they will fetch more money on the market than bushels of the same fruit later in the season when the market is flooded with that fruit. They are the “double portion” fruit.
The firstborn son was the most honoured of the family; if the father died, the oldest son had the responsibility of the family. He received the double portion blessing. In Deuteronomy 21:17 I commanded that even if the father hated his son’s mother, he must “give him a double portion of all that he hath for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.”
I, your Lord and Saviour, am the First of the firstfruits, as Paul wrote the Corinthian church in 1 Corinthians 15:23: “But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.”
Eve was the “firstfruits” of Adam. She came out of his innermost being. I created her with the identical DNA as Adam. I did not use another pile of dust; She was “bone of his bone, and flesh of his flesh.” Adam called her Ishshah (Woman).
In the same way I created My Bride out of My suffering, My passion, My tears and agony, and My flesh and blood. Apostle James had this revelation when he wrote in James 1:18, “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”
You are precious to Me. You are chosen and separated unto Me, and you shall be the first to be brought into My Temple to be “waved” (displayed) before the world, as the man child company who has been faithful and pure before Me. Your reward is going to be great. You will see on that day that it was worth it all!
