October 25: Make Hay While the Sun Shines

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 27:25

“The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.” (Proverbs 27:25)

This verse is a continuation of verses 23 and 24 where the Lord is warning and admonishing us to not be slothful, but to be concerned about those things for which He has made us responsible.

If God has put you in charge of a household, factory, place of business, or ministry, you need to be aware of what is taking place at all times in every area for which you are the overseer.

In other words, if you are the Lord’s overseer, you need to keep your eyes open and be inquisitive about every area and department of your church, store, farm,  or whatever. Never take it for granted that everything will automatically keep on coasting along without any problems rising up.

Be a good overseer of the flock. Always know how many sheep you have and how they are faring. Be sure that they have plenty of feed and water, He who is not diligent to care for the state of his flocks will never be given the responsibility of precious lives.

Check out your supplies in all departments of the business from the kitchen to the tool shed. Keep a close watch on the finances. Where is the money being spent? Are the bills being paid? Are those who do the buying making wise purchases? In what condition are the vehicles and other machinery, such as lawn mowers, tractors, bulldozers, backhoes, cars, vans, trucks, printing presses, computers, typewriters, stoves, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, freezers, air conditioners, etc.? There are so many different kinds of machines these days.

Watch out for the herbs in the fields. Know them, gather them when they are ready. Do not let them be wasted because they have only a short life span when they can be picked — after that they lose their taste and their special health-giving properties.

Let nothing be wasted. Take nothing for granted. I, the Lord, have put you in charge and made you overseer, and if I see you becoming careless or indifferent, I will have to remove you from your position and raise up another in your place to be My overseer.

It is time for growth and you must look well to the foundation whereon you will build. I want to cause this growth to take place upon a good, firm foundation. Be diligent, be virtuous, be caring.

Never let there be a waste of anything, from the garden, to the kitchen, to the cupboards, to the closets, to the supply closets, to the warehouses. I hold each and every one of you responsible for your area of ministry.

Your master or mistress may not see your slackness or waste, but I do. I see it all, for this is My house, saith the Lord.
