October 3: Your Words Are the Key to Unity

Scripture Reading — I Corinthians 1:1-19

“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (I Corinthians 1: 10)

My child, as you look closely at these words of wisdom, you will see that divisions come among you because of the things that you say. I said you must be careful to “speak the same thing.” That means, you must be on guard to avoid getting into arguments. There is no end to troubles that have come into the world simply through words.

Words are so powerful, that if you knew how powerful they are, you would set a more diligent guard over your mouth than you would over gold and diamonds. Words are harder to guard than costly jewellery. Words are always seeking to escape from the prison of wisdom.

Many times you know that you should not say certain things, but you disregard My Holy Spirit within who gently nudges you to keep silence. And My Spirit is faithful to warn you, if you will listen to Him, because He does not want you to lose your peace and happiness. Remember “God is not the author of confusion.” (I Corinthians 14:33)

As you guard your words it will promote unity among the members of your household and those with whom you live and work. This unity will lift you into positions of truth and leadership so that you can give righteous end-time judgment.
