I finally put it on — he returned a while later to find me dissolved in tears. ‘I did that the first time I heard it!’ he said, and gave it to me. There is a supernatural dimension to this music which is very hard to explain. On the surface, it actually sounds simple and repetitive, rather like Taize music. Then suddenly, you draw a deep shuddering breath and notice that you are internalizing the message and being deeply affected, you hear your own voice and realize that you have joined in worship, and you begin to dab at your inexplicably moist eyes.
