Loving greetings from Kentucky! Philip and I are on the road again.
We are on our way to Campbellsville University for Ignite America, hosted by Jerry and ETH Judy Ball. Pastor Mark Bristow, and Claren and Nancy McQueen will also be there to minister to college students from across the country, along with other tremendous men and women of God. From their website: The “mission statement for Ignite America is: that all who attend will have an experience of transformation through the revelation of Christ Jesus in us, the hope of Glory (Col. 1:27). These will leave with the abiding presence of Jesus and the call to be His witnesses on the campuses of America, making disciples of Christ.
“Secondly, Ignite America was formed this year with a new pointed focus: to gather in united worship and intercession for a shift in our nation’s education system, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Please intercede for this important event on God’s calendar, that it will make an “impact, transformation, and revolution” in the lives of the students, so that they will impact, transform, and bring revolution to their campuses!
From there we go to minister in our Washington DC Branch on Saturday. In fact, we will be pushing our Friday Night Live Worship service to Saturday at 6:30 P.M. Eastern time so that you can join us!
On Sunday, we will be at Godpleasers Family Church in Lanham, Maryland, and head that evening to Calvary Pentecostal Campground in Ashland, Virginia. We will minister there Monday, August 6 through Wednesday, August 8. On Friday we will be in West Columbia, South Carolina, and then Augusta Georgia on Sunday, and Atlanta on Tuesday. See details below.
Show Us the Way!
It is beautiful to drive across the roads of our blessed nation. Once in a while we make wrong turns, but even then we see something that we’ve never seen before, or encounter someone we might not have encountered otherwise. Sometimes the GPS takes us on unexpected roads. Everywhere we/you go, the anointing in our lives, as we give ourselves to be used of the Lord, can make an impact in the spiritual atmosphere. We may not get to see the results of it until we get to the other side of eternity, but the Lord loves to use us whether we realize it or not. We are learning to walk in His ways, on His paths, journeying with Him.
The Hebrew word for road/way is derek (Strong’s number 1870). Its root word is darak (1869), meaning to tread down. So derek means a beaten path, a:
- way, road, distance, journey, manner
- road, way, path
- manner, habit, way
- of course of life (fig.)
- of moral character (fig.)*
The first place the word derek is used in scripture is Genesis 3:24, where God “placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”
The same word is used of Abraham in Genesis 18:19, “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.”
God knew that Abraham loved Him and out of that love he would obey Him and lead his family to do the same. He was called God’s friend three times in scripture. Friends know each other‘s ways!
The Highway of Holiness
Isaiah chapters 34 and 35 describe the time (I think we are crossing the threshold into it!) when the Lord will arise in vengeance to settle the “controversy of Zion,” dealing harshly with His enemies, and blessing His people Israel with streams in the desert, etc. Then verse 8 tells us, “And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness…” God’s way is separated from the ways of the world. It is unique to Him, and as we walk with Him on it, we learn from His heart and see Him as He is. We will be transformed to be like Him as we behold Him (1 John 3:2).
I believe that His goal is for us to learn the ways of Heaven and practice them on the Earth, so that his Kingdom will come, and His will will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven! Heaven is a place of worship, joy, peace, and love! Knowing Him, and walking in His ways will transform us and the atmosphere around us.
Deuteronomy 10:12 “And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
Psalms 37:23 (KJV) The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
When we journey with the Lord through today and through life, His grace will enable us to make heavenly choices that will impact, transform, and revolutionize the Earth. That is, the choices we make to put away childish, selfish reactions, or angry, wounded behavior will enable us to rise up in the maturity of the sons of God and establish His Kingdom moment by moment.
Thank you! We deeply appreciate how you continue to stand with us as we endeavor to prepare the way of the Lord!
The car that we normally use for our local mail run and grocery-getting broke down about four months ago and the mechanics haven’t been able to figure out how to repair it. So our guys went car hunting and found a Nissan Xterra with 130,000 miles on it for $5,200. Please believe God with us for the provision for this unexpected need, and pray with us as we dedicate it to the Lord that it will function well for a long time to come!
Your handmaiden and servant,
Sharon and Philip
